Let’s continue. I’m still eager to know the identity of the Correspondent, but to be honest, my eagerness dropped by two notches after last episode. It’s as though you’re prolonging my suffering. Ugh!

Also, since I did not anticipate the event where they had to end Butterfly Girl and now have the problem of how to end it, the cliffhanger did not have the same punch as Episode 33. Nevertheless, it introduces some problems that require immediate solutions.

    Episode 35 Commentary

#4…Mira has been eager to satisfy her urges, but KC wants to take it step by step. Either he really wants to be with Mira but don’t want to go all the way without dealing with YJ, or he’s just stalling her while he heals with the Correspondent who probably is manipulating their feelings.

#8 I don’t understand it either. Perhaps, KC wants him to be in that manhwa in preparation for the final chapter.

Also, you wrote: ‘No longer the calm Kang Chul, but a whole. Impulsive and rational combined.’

I take that both KC 1.0 and KC 2.0 have integrated their respective memories and personalities. Thus, KC can become impulsive when needed.

#10 This may be off-topic because I Google’s blue house to compare the actual colours vs the one you made. Interesting that as of 2023, it’s no longer the South Korean presidential residence. The current one was the former building housing the Ministry of National Defense.

‘A turbulence of shadows, Mi-Ra becomes Cha Yu-Sun.’

I’m not sure if it is really significant in the manhwa. As far as I see, Mira and Chayusun are just Kim Taehee: the former wears modern clothing, while the latter wears traditional Korean wear. Perhaps in W4, there’s a slight change in features, which is why there’s a need for Mira to transform to Cha Yusun.

#15 I gotto laugh at this. I’m assuming that Butterfly Girl s set in the 21st century while Queen of Darkness was set somewhere in the past. (I can’t check the century at the moment.) It’s funny that in the crossover, characters from centuries ago are in the 21st century.

‘My first decree: the abolition of all modern architecture. And my second decree: the abolition of all modern technology.’

I’m ambivalent about this. One could argue that modern architecture is ugly, but abolishing modern technology is just too much. Aside from how social media makes it easy to consume dumb stuff, modern technology is good.

    Anyway, back to the story….

Perhaps YJ should come clean with manhwas becoming alive.

I’m at #20 at the moment, and I’m reading this sequentially and I’ve always had this assumption that, unless marked with flashback, events are happening sequentially.

In this frame, Mira is talking to the restaurant’s manager. Going at the assumption above, I suppose that, as Cha Yusun, she spoke in the Blue House as Queen of Korea in the crossover, then went back to the real world as Mira and is speaking to the manager.

It is also possible that this took place prior to becoming Queen Cha Yusun, but it’s not marked as such.

    #22

I’ll have to recall how time flows in the real world viz-a-viz the manhwa/crossover. Mira/Cha Yusun can seem to transport herself instantly between worlds, sometimes whenever it’s convenient. So I’m lost as to how plausible this is.

#26 nice twist! For one second, I though Cha Yusun has taken over fully. They’ve taken so many L’s that it’s nice for them to win just this once.

#29 It’s the first time we see Renbo speaking Spanish. I don’t know when or where she learned it, but Cha is clearly annoyed.

I have to read this carefully because the pictures make the texts be far from each other so I’ll have to scroll up and scroll down. If I understand it right, Cha Yusun’s order was supposed to induced the people/characters/creatures around her to attack Renbo. But it seems that her imitating caused the dolphins that appear to attack Cha Yusun. But on second or third reading, that might not be the case. The dolphins appeared due to Yoonhee.

    Anyway, let’s move on…

#31 It seems YJ now has a clue what’s going on regarding KC’s feelings for Mira.

#36 I’m getting bored with KC-Mira. Sure, a clothed girl who suddenly becomes naked is a sight to behold. But I would like to get to the point quickly, i.e. to know what’s the devious plan the Correspondent mentioned to Mira earlier.

To be fair, if you’re shipping KC and Mira, you’ll probably appreciate more of these scenes.

#41 I like that we’re now seeing these scenes. Personally, I would have loved that KC’s admission of her feelings about Mira to YJ not to have been interrupted, but okay, we get to see the Correspondent.

Curiously, you marked these as flashforward. Does this mean that we are supposed to go back to Mira and KC starting next episode because that is what’s supposed to be the present time?

Anyway, the Correspondent’s presence in the cliffhanger salvages this relatively boring episode.

        Introduction.

Yes, I make the audience suffer. But it's not just to maintain suspense. There's a reason I can talk about in the next episode.

        #4.

Hypotheses, hey hey... Troubled waters or truth.

        #8.

It's just a line he says because he's angry. If Wang Shin causes trouble, he sends him to the manhwa. But in reality, he can't do it himself. For that he would need Ren-Bo or the Queen of Darkness to teleport Wang Shin. But would he really do it? I don't think he wants to hurt Yoon-Hee. So it's more of an angry, inconsequential line.

        #10.

I didn't know the blue house wasn't the presidential residence anymore. I've seen it in so many dramas I didn't even look it up. I think I'll leave it that way because it's just cooler.

Note: the yellow and green colors aren't chosen at random. They're the ones at the bottom of the logo, symbolizing the two worlds, just as the W at the top symbolizes W and the real world in blue and red.

Here, Mi-Ra transforms into Cha Yu-Sun to get her Joseon clothes. But there's also a little personality shift. Although it's still Mi-Ra and she's in charge, Cha Yu-Sun has a little autonomy and can use her personality traits. Refer to an earlier dialogue, when Mi-Ra says she's frank, but uses Cha Yu-Sun when she needs to lie. That's why it was Cha Yu-Sun disguised as Mi-Ra who did the TV interview in front of the Moon company building.

        #15.

Episode 1. 1887. End of the 19th century. Hence the fact that Wang Shin can use the first firearms. Including a Western-style revolver and a breech-loading rifle.

I agree, it would be wrong to abolish technology. But the goal is to return to the days of Queen of Darkness, so it's a dictatorial and idiotic decree.

        #20.

Mi-Ra didn't leave the restaurant. Cha Yu-Sun went to the presidential palace before the restaurant appointment. I've done my best to make it clear: RECALL and a note "this event took place this morning".

        #22.

She teleports freely, but not to the place of her choice. That's why she searches her laptop for a place to meet Kang Chul. She finds that the Jugno Tower is the place in the Real World that's closest to the National Assembly in the Crossover. So she didn't choose the meeting place by chance, as she had planned to go to the Crossover after seeing Kang Chul.

        #29.

We assume Ren-Bo knew how to speak Spanish in Butterfly Girl. Perhaps she learned the language at school? It's hard to say why she speaks Spanish to make fun of Cha Yu-Sun. Because before she said "mosquito", and because she drinks a "mojito". And a nod to the tour guide from a previous episode? Instinctively, I thought it sounded better in Spanish.

Cha Yu-Sun suffers another humiliation, mocked by Ren-Bo. And to add insult to injury, Yoon-Hee has drawn a squeaking dolphin, seemingly laughing and mocking her.

        FLASHFORWARD.

There's time to recover in the next episode. To avoid confusion, I preferred to indicate "flashforward". It's similar to episode 22.

Sorry the episode isn't as intense as you like. Probably, it's more interesting when invested in Mi-Ra and Kang Chul relationship.
