Let’s end this weekend with a bang by tackling the last episode that’s available so far.

Mira seems to be on the side of the good guys because she helped Renbo to not disappear. But will she cause trouble? After all, she still has to deal with YJ.

    Episode 42 Commentary

    Frame no 5:

So everyone went to the Crossover.

    C#3. NORMAL SPEED.

Cool. KC is disarming them to get their weapons.

YH: ‘Mi-Ra teleported us here to kill us. (appalled by her friend's betrayal)’

Who actually teleported them? YH suspects Mira, but she doesn’t seem to be an enemy at this point.

#7. "Real World" - Sung-Moo's Living Room (afternoon).

Okay, so Renbo brought them to the Crossover. She seems to be in a catatonic state. She needs to snap out of it soon.

Up to frame no 11: Good action scenes.

    Frame no 14: recall

Some lighthearted moments here to give us a break from the action.

DY doesn’t seem to be too old to be Renbo’s father, but the old man thinks so.

Even if you hate it, it’s nice that you alluded to Goblin. Or is there another drama you were pointing at?

    Frame no 19:

RB: Of course, how else could I do that?

This could potentially spell trouble, unless of course the parents and other adults won’t believe the children.

Frame no 23: This is the moment I’ve been waiting for, the moment where WS is back in action instead of scolding KC.

Frame no 24: This might be problematic later on. So many people have seen RB disappear. It might be a plot hole if this doesn’t have any consequence.

Frame no 30: Some bit of comedy as they attempt to erase the evidence of their display of supernatural abilities.

#45. "Crossover" - Urban Battlefield (day) + MONTAGE.

It seems that the Narrator, by adding a flashback, retconned things: from a civil war into modern warfare.

#52. KC is about to reveal an important information, and the concept of metempsychosis is important, but I expect him to say it in the next episode.

    Conclusion:

This is one of the better episodes. We haven’t seen quite an action-packed episode in a while.

Too bad I’ll probably have to wait months before we get to episode 43. Chances are, I might forget that KC will reveal something.

Just need to put a note to myself that KC will reveal something in Episode 43.

        Teleporting into Crossover.

It was indeed Mi-Ra who teleported them here. We have all the evidence. The teleport was in a cloud of shadow. Then, the army of Shadow Killers (controlled by the Queen of Darkness, i.e. Mi-Ra) prepared for a death trap. And finally, it's clearly stated in scene #38.

It's not explained, but for consistency's sake, Mi-Ra didn't teleport them before during episode 41, because it took a little time to get her army of killers to the abandoned shack.

So here, Soo-Bong only says that Ren-Bo have to summon them in the real world to save them. Summoning always works like this: the summoner is in one world, and summons characters who are in the other world. It doesn't work the other way around. For example, if Kang Chul is in the real world, he can't concentrate on sending someone from the real world into W. He has to go into W first, then summon the person.

Well, to be exact, he can only send himself in the other world, it's from W season 1, episode 12. So he can also teleport a person with him (touching the person, to make it more clear, or very close to him), what he did many time already, as well as Ren-Bo and Mi-Ra.

        #14.

That is indeed a reference to Goblin. I don't really hate the drama. But it was so boring that I gave up. I was mostly angry at the over-hype. Maybe, one day when I'm in a good mood, I'll try to see the whole thing?

The drama is so well known that the reference is easy to guess, so I chose this drama for the age gap. Do-Yoon is 40. He was 35 at the start of W. +1 year when Final Chapter is triggered. +2 years when Kang Chul is in prison in W. +2 years between when Kang Chul arrives in the real world and when season 2 begins.

        #23.

Yes, of course I couldn't reveal anything, but your comment to the previous episode made me smile. Because I knew that in episode 42, Wang Shin does something heroic.

        #24.

Yes, but human testimony can be questioned. And as we see later, they'll erase the formal evidence. Hey hey!

        #30.

The episodes are more dramatic, so some idiocy with Ren-Bo relaxes the atmosphere. But it's also memories that help her heal. That's why she sees a memory with Mr. Teddy Bear.

        #38.

Here, they assume Mi-Ra might summon them again, but Kang Chul guesses she won't, as Ren-Bo can easily (and instantly) bring them back to the real world. The Narrator waited for the perfect moment to attack (previous episode): for Ren-Bo to be catatonic, to prevent them from escaping the death trap in the Crossover. That's why, at the end of episode 41, Kang Chul looks at Ren-Bo, and understands the Narrator's threat. He immediately draws his pistol and waits for the teleportation to take place. Well, it's not really Narrator attack, but we guess (and it's said in this scene): they say that the Narrator certainly asked Mi-Ra to summon them. So, it looks like they are allies again.

        #39.

Here, too, we have confirmation that Mi-Ra has teleported them. Kang Chul doesn't know why (and neither do we, for that matter), but even though the ordeal was difficult and the action intense, he thinks, or hopes, that she knew he'd pull through. After all, Mi-Ra spent a very long time with him in the Imagination and knows that his martial skills have developed superhumanly.

        #45.

He didn't really RetCon the situation. (Actually, the idea is very good, but I wonder if it could really be used). Rather, what he did was mask the event. Just as I mask events in the drama and there's a revelation later in a flashback. So the event takes place, but doesn't show up in the manhwa until later, as a flashback. This is something the manhwa can accept, because it conforms to a narrative logic. Another "meta" thing, ahah!!!

        #52.

Yes, it's catastrophic! I wanted Kang Chul to expose everything during episode 41, but it was too long. Then I wanted to do it in episode 42, but that was too long too. So I postponed it. I said to myself: let's try to find something positive in this. At least the audience has more time to try and guess what it would be.

        Conclusion.

Hey, you like heavy action! I prefer episode 41, but 42 is super-cool for action. I've certainly told it before, but one thing frustrated me a lot in W season 1: we see that Kang Chul is an expert marksman, but he never uses his abilities. And even when he does fight the killer (with Sung-Moo's face), it's in a car and at close range. Frustrating! I absolutely wanted him to be involved in gunfights and see him in action with a gun. In season 2, there were several action scenes where he fired a lot of bullets! Episode 13, 26, 27, a sniper shot Ep 37, and now Episode 42, hundreds of bullets!
