It has been a long time when I read episode 38 so my recollection is shaky. I do remember KC and Mira coming out from where they were trapped, and everyone say them kissing. From here, the love triangle is out in the open.

    Episode 39 Commentary

    #3 Flashback

Agent Bae mentions a Moon case. Am I supposed to interpret this that she is investigating Moon Mira?

#5 This frame gives us more information on the zombies. I do remember when I was reading Episode 38 that it felt like the zombies did not feel much of a threat because it had us focusing on KC and Mira.

Anyway, if they’re doing experiments on a zombie and basically show them to be indestructible, how were they able to capture one? It’s strange.

Shocked was everyone else, but KC and Mira must have lived a thousand years in Imagination.

The ensuing battle between, I forgo this name, and the Queen of Darkness must be epic. Too bad I just have to imagine while reading it.

Around C15 flashback, we are again recalling the sad backstory of how Mira became what she is today.

C#19 The only conclusion I can derive is that Mira is a complex character. I have a back-and-forth reaction where sometimes I want to root for Mira and sometimes, I despise her. It’s like a pendulum swinging.

Unfortunately, YJ is reduced to a supporting character.

KC mentioned : “A few more years of training.” At 1800 days, it’s less than 5 years. I lost track of time in the last episode.

Mira: ‘Let's be sure you remain a loose end, Oh Yeon-Joo.’

After reading this line, I’m back to wanting KC to be feigning his ‘love’ for her.

OYJ jealousy is high. Anyway, I don’t remember jealousy being used in the original. It’s bold of you to use something standard in W’s universe.

Do-Yoon comes next to Kang Chul and watches Mi-Ra leave.

KC and Dy’s convo here still leaves me hope that this is still within KC’s overall plan, i.e. so she’s decide to end her manhwa.

#16 WS is right, but he does not see the big picture – a typical male reasoning.

#17 By confronting WS, KC must have told DY his plan.

#22 good old break up scenes. There’s so much going here it’s hard to sort. Which memories are real? Which was part of the plan? Once can interpret this scene in different ways depending on your assumption of what KC is thinking to do.

#23 so the battle is a draw

#24 continuing with the break up scene.

OYJ was the protagonist in season 1, but from protagonist, she suddenly finds herself as the antagonist here. It’s not something I would expect to read from when I started reading this back in episode 1.

The episode ends where we are left to wonder what will happen to OYJ. Will Mira try to kill her?

What about those zombies? So far, KC et al haven’t dealt with them directly.

        #3.

Yes, Agent Bae was in episode 25, at the scene of Mi-Ra's uncle's murder.

So she already knows that something extraordinary is going on, because the crime was impossible.

And in another episode (around 30), Mi-Ra mind-controls the NIS director to sort out her legal problem.

        #5.

There are two flashbacks before, showing the police capturing them.

We see that many of them are inert, content to stand still.

        #6.

I assume you mean the fight between Mi-Ra and Wang Shin.

Note, she doesn't even use the Queen of Darkness's powers.

        C#19.

Yes, Mi-Ra is a complicated character, with a strange evolution.

Sometimes you can love her, sometimes you can hate her.

In any case, Wang Shin and Yeon-Joo have good reason to hate her.

        #13.

Here, for example, we want to hate her. Even if she's improved, there's still a little something bad about her.

The love triangle is classic but uses the high-concept, like lovers trapped for a very long time in another dimension.

I like it because it provides intense emotions, and develops themes like marital breakdown.

It's a bit like "The world of the married" Meets "W".

        #16.

Thankfully, Wang Shin is here to recap a lot of what we can think about the situation.

Is this dialectic? Giving all points of view of a situation.

        #17.

Here's the answer to a question you asked in a previous episode (34?).

About the scene on the racetrack, spectacular but with little follow-up (at the time).

It now triggers (or helps trigger) the fight between Do-Yoon and Wang Shin.

        #22.

I was able to place that magic line you often hear in dramas: "Never forgive me". It's always amused me as a line: to cause someone harm and instead of apologizing, give them an order. What nerve! Joking aside, I think it's more a way of saying that the characters take responsibility for their choices or mistakes.

        #24

It's hard to say who's the antagonist and who isn't, apart from the Narrator.

It's more that the characters are a bit messy.

They have their share of bad deeds from time to time, even Kang Chul.

And despite being adorable, Ren-Bo often causes trouble.

        Conclusion:

That's why I put in the first few scenes, so as not to lose sight of the zombie situation.

Kang Chul faced some in episode 37.

For the others, it was a means used by the Narrator to steal their souls and animate rebels in the manhwa.

For the moment, it's difficult to develop this further, as things are moving fast (they've only appeared since episode 37).
