Episode 18 Commentary

I’m at frame #20, and there’s nothing significant happening, except Soobong trying to talk to Renbo to come with him to the real world and Mira consulting an IT expert.

Boy, I am excited for them to know that Queen of Darkness is another pain in the arse. But I’ll have to put up with these scenes first.

#22 and #23. The writing wasn’t dramatic so I had to check back to frame #19.

Now, I’m a bit confused. Soobong was trying to tell Renbo that he is not from her world, but she seemed to be in utter disbelief. She didn’t seem to see the manhwa or hasn’t realised at this point that she is a manhwa character even if Soobong was suggesting that she is one, even if he is showing the power of his stylus.

The time freeze only happened once they had kissed.

#22 says imagination. I’m not sure if she is seeing a copy of the manhwa at this point, but she should be.

Back to #24 where time is frozen. I’ll check if some of the things I find confusing are cleared up.

#27 nice cliffhanger to end this frame. I wonder if Doyoon is seeing what’s happening in Queen of Darkness manhwa at that point Yeonjoo was asking ‘What wrong now?’

But it could also be the case that Renbo and Soobong are now in the room.

#30 I’m quickly skimming this even though this is supposed to be action. In real-time, you can’t savour the details as the movements are fast.

 #33 ‘my revolver’. I was under the impression that Yoon-hee brought the gun  from the real world to the manhwa, but he said it’s mine. Was there gun during that period? So a quick Google revealed that there were guns in 16^th Century Korea.

#34 I expected Renbo and Soobong to land where Kang Chul and others are, but no. They’re in the middle of nowhere.

#37. I’m glad they’re in the real world, but please, I want them to know what’s happening in Queen of Darkness!

#46 let me express that this unknown entity communicating with Mira is one of those elements that make your work tough to write. Who could this person? In W, it was the killer himself. The methods are similar, but I’m curious if there was an unnamed character who became conscious of his existence as an ill-defined manhwa character.

…correspondent died because of Daddy and Daughter plus KC. Could this be the other villain, the politician? If so, his death felt arbitrary in that he was controlled by Oh Sungmo to die and leave the impression that he committed suicide.

…and before I know it, the episode ends.

    Before #20.  Moon Mi-Ra with Song-Gi. Did you see the line, "prince of darkness" ? ^^

    Some flashbacks to better understand the order of the scenes in the previous episode, and to see why Soo-Bong was sent back to "butterfly girl" so quickly after a short passage in the real world.

     

    #17 à #19. Soo-Bong is not able to convince her directly. As a last alternative, he has volume 6, if he couldn't.

    But in what she says, she is willing to accept the truth, except that it happens unexpectedly, after the kiss. 

    In #21, Soo-Bong voice over: "At that moment, she had thought of this..."

    It should be obvious that he is talking about the moment when the time stop occurred. But maybe it's not? How else to put it. Perhaps a more explicit line?

     

    #22. Then, Ren-Bo's Imagination: this is what she thought just before the time stop. She understood the truth on her own, by herself (but certainly influenced by everything Soo-Bong told her before). She understood the truth in a strange way, imagining things like this... an unknown manhwa, her on it, etc. Of course, the manhwa is unknown because she has never seen the "butterfly girl" covers from the real world. So she just imagines a manhwa of some sort, where she would be the heroine on it. And how she becomes alive. 

     

    #27. Ah ah, they would be in the room, but Ren-Bo wants to make a joke and they are hiding ?? ^^

    "Queen of Darkness"? No, there's nothing about it here?! Do-Yoon just sees that they didn't arrive in the room.

    Otherwise, this is the kind of mini-cliffhanger I need to put more often. Hard to do. There were several in the previous episode like this.

     

    #33. Just before! There is a flashback where Wang Shin gives her his revolver. "Keep the last bullet for yourself".

    The fight in the mist can take place in real time... But not the one against the Queen of Darkness. The shadow arm is much too fast to have time to see anything. ;-)

     

    #37. It will happen. But during this part of the drama. It's hard to arrange everything everywhere. The episodes have a priority sometimes on one world, sometimes on the other. Of course everything will be addressed.

     

    #46. Mystery. The introduction of the episode with Song-Gi was important to make clear that it is impossible to communicate like this on the tablet. And so... something supernatural and blood-curdling.

    Hey... weren't you hoping to find out at the end of the episode? Ha ha!
